In 1895 Mary Baker Eddy ordained the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures as Pastor of the Church of Christ, Scientist, worldwide.
Our Sunday Service consists of singing hymns and reading citations from the Bible and correlative passages from Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Our Sunday Lessons are based on 26 topics found in the Christian Science Quarterly and studied by Christian Scientist around the world every day prior to our Sunday Service.
Our Wednesday Testimony meetings include readings from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures that address current issues or needs in the community or world. Following the readings, the congregation is invited to share experiences of spiritual healing or insight gained from prayer and the study of Christian Science.
In the text book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mary Baker Eddy writes:
"In the year 1866, I discovered the Christ Science or divine laws of Life, Truth, and Love, and named my discovery Christian Science. God had been graciously preparing me during many years for the reception of this final revelation of the absolute divine Principle of scientific mental healing."
The Christian Science Monitor, a weekly newspaper, was founded by Mary Baker Eddy. It was designed to elucidate the needs of humanity while staying free from sensationalism and personal attack.
Physical healing is often the result of Christian Science practice, although, the healing most desired by Mrs. Eddy was that which "would take away the sins of the world."
